ABOUT US
We are THE MOTEL CARIBE. A personal project that was born in 2021 with a vision of conscious and sustainable fashion.
At Motel we design timeless and long-lasting garments that go beyond trends and seasonal changes, always using recycled materials and 100% organic cotton.
We pride ourselves on working ethically from the beginning with local suppliers and workshops mainly in Barcelona, although the family has grown and we now also work with artisans in Vigo and Elche.
Our collections are made in limited quantities or on demand, thus avoiding overproduction, waste of materials and contributing in some way to the wellbeing of all.
At MOTEL, we don’t like seasons, we don’t like fast fashion but we really like you!
ON DEMAND/STOCK ZERO
Many of Motel’s products are only available on demand, we do not have stock. Our craftsmen start to make the piece once you place the order, in this way, in addition to each piece being unique and giving it the value it deserves, we avoid excess stock by selling only what is produced.
OUR MATERIALS
We only use 100% organic cotton with GOTS certificate and recycled materials from raw material remains or from deadstocks.
100% ORGANIC COTTON
Organic cotton is a natural fiber that benefits the environment and our health, since its cultivation is free of toxic substances. It grows in fields free of fertilizers, insecticides and pesticides of chemical origin.
It encourages crop rotation to keep the land healthier and more fertile while respecting the Earth’s natural cycles.
The water used in organic cotton cultivation is approximately 60% less than that used in conventional cotton production.
Organic cotton is hypoallergenic, suitable for the most sensitive skin. In addition, the touch of the garments is much softer and the skin breathes better.
High-quality garments are more resistant and durable, since they do not undergo any chemical treatment.
GOTS CERTIFIED
The Global Ecological Textile Standard (GOTS) is considered the main world standard that advocates textile processing that does not harm the environment and that, in addition, has a social conscience.
What does the GOTS certificate guarantee?
The raw material comes from certified organic crops free of fertilizers, pesticides, herbicides and genetically modified seeds, in order to help conserve the planet.
Fair working conditions and wages, without child exploitation. It guarantees essential labor rights for the people who participate in the production chain.
Organic fibers are clearly identified and do not come into contact with conventional fibers at all stages of the production process.
The fabrics are made with at least 70% certified organic natural fibers.
Organic farming uses much less water, since most crops are rainfed, which increases water conservation.
LOCAL PRODUCTION
All our pieces are made entirely in Spain, mainly in Barcelona. We are lucky to also have artisans in Vigo and Elche who make our crochet bags and scarves.
From Barcelona we work hand in hand with local workshops and artisans, empowering our community and contributing to their growth while helping us to make this project possible.
Our commitment is a long-term sustainable and responsible business ethic. We are committed to a long-term sustainable and responsible business ethic. We strive to ensure that our partners share the same environmental vision and responsibilities.
Thanks to the proximity of our workshops we keep our carbon footprint low by avoiding the environmental damage caused by long distance transport.
We are committed to doing everything in our power to work, research, develop ideas and products that put the well-being of our planet first.
If you have any questions about how we make our parts, don’t hesitate to contact us. We will be happy to talk to you!
UPCYCLING
We reuse existing resources such as fabrics from tablecloths, curtains or bedspreads to create new items, giving them a second life and promoting local trade and craftsmanship.
Remember the importance of The three R’s rule: Reduce, Reuse and Recycle!
DEAD STOCKS
We recover stocks from past collections and unused fabrics.
We look for leftover raw materials to make new models and collections contributing to zero waste.
